I commented on a post at Jenny Greenleaf's blog, and realized that I had a particular outlook regarding writer's block. Quick to seize the opportunity for the easy post, here it is!
I believe in writer's wall, but not in writer's block. I see it as an obstacle, not some force we have no control over. It's not like you can only write when your muse pokes you, and you cannot write when the anti-muse says no; The writer has free will.
You've got to find your way to the other side of an obstacle. Push it over, climb it, dig a hole under it, arrange your molecules just so in order to pass through it, or pick a different project or start a new one. The writer's block/wall mantra: JUST WRITE! Even if it's crap, we've got to keep rolling out words; we are logophilic dung beetles. Eventually we'll pick up on something and then realize the worst is over.
But that's just my opinion.
